November Meeting and EOY

Tuesday Evening is our November Meeting night (18/11/14). This month is our annual trivia night. All members are welcome, as are any guests they wish to bring. Nibblies, and drinks provided, and we have a considerable stash of prizes for the winners this year. So bring your thinking caps and come along for a fun night.

The date for End of Year Dinner and Competition is fast approaching. We will soon have to let the caterers know as to numbers. If you have not contacted the committee as yet to say you will be attending please do so ASAP.
We will be attempting to make this year a fun filled celebration of our club, as it is our last opportunity to celebrate our anniversary. We have a great array of models lined up for our usual raffles, some new prizes and games (especially for the girls) and our always popular trivia contests. Of course amongst all of this we will be awarding the prizes for the days competition for the ever prestigious Model and Modeller of the year. We even have a nice big IPMS birthday cake lined up. So book it in (29/11/14) and come along for a great night.

This Tuesday (15/07/14) is meeting night at the usual location of the Ashburton Library. Hope to see you there.
I have also added to the links side bar the Model expo Diary Blog we ran this year with it's pictures.

May Meeting

The May meeting is upon us this Tuesday.
Look forward to seeing you all there at Ashburton Library.
Bring your in progress works and for something different bring along your toolkit.
Just a set of clippers, knife, sanding stick and some glue will do. This is to build our mystery display for expo this year. It should be a blast and nothing too difficult. If you have a small cutting mat you can chuck that in to.
Also up for grabs if you help out is a special anniversary gift celebrating the clubs 50th year.
Look forward to seeing you there.
I have posted a few of the pictures of the fine models at W&T 2014 this year.

Febuary Meeting

We have kicked off the new club year with the AGM last night. The committee was elected and we now steam full ahead into the special year that is 2014.
Committee Members are:
Andrew Perren - President
Mic Bradshaw - Vice President
Jason Steinwedel - Treasurer
Mike Rennie - Secretary
Laurence Farrugia - Committee person.

We have 2 positions currently vacant, so if you have some free time and would like to help out please feel free to contact Andrew.

We had a very good turn out last night and the models on the table were excellent, showing people had been busy over the last couple of months since end of year.

Wings and Tracks was announced, and this sees us return to Ashburton Library in April for this event, we have a pending announcement for a new venue for the Swap and Sell which we hope will be a lot better than previous venues. Andrew also announced that the club display build weekend has been relocated and rescheduled due to availability of the "special" kits. We will announce further news here.

The whole committee is looking forward to the coming year, where the club will be celebrating it's 50th anniversary with numerous events for members.

Here are some photos of the models on the tables and congrats to Andrew P for his model of the month Mig29.

Prospective member Nick had this very nice Porter on the table...

Rene had his Choctaw on display....
Uncle Les had these upsized space marines to show off...

Graham and Alex had Harrier fever...

and Laurence is still working on his devils chariot....
But to my mind the best piece of the night was Faz's car awesome work and detailing. Looks almost real.
Until the next post happy modelling.
